We’re supposed to go to Gigantes but unfortunately, all tours are canceled because of typhoon Tisoy. The good thing is we get to book the best resort out there – Solina Beach and Nature Resort. We can safely say that we survived the typhoon as the resort gives us an assurance that we’re safe and they let their restaurant opens for 24 hrs for our needs. Because of that, kudos to them!
Now, how to get to Solina Beach and Nature Resort…
Solina Beach and Nature Resort is located in Carles. Which is roughly more than 4 hours of land travel from Iloilo airport. From the airport, make sure to find the white van on your way out. Taxi rates are a bit steep IMO ‘coz they ask for P500 (2 pax). Compared to the van, fare per pax is P100 and ask the driver to drop you off at Ceres Bus Station. Once in Ceres station, ride the bus route to Balasan. Fare cost is P176 per person. You can also try the van if you’re not comfortable riding the bus for 4 to 5 hours with stopovers (which we just find on our way home -.-).
Once you reached Solina, you’ll ride a van to reach the reception area. From gate to reception only took less than 5 mins! But since Solina treats their guests as VIP so why not 😉 And once you’ve confirmed your booking they’ll assist you to your room.
There are different types of accommodation here: Balay Palangga & villas, Higdaan and Kamalig.
What we booked is Higdaan. The pod is excellently for couples and the room is equipped with television, electric kettle, bathroom necessities, cabinet, coffee & tea, refrigerator, glasses, and cups. Comfortable sheets too!
It also has a balcony with a table and chairs too. And outside you’ll be welcomed by towering trees!
The resort also has its own restaurant – Angga Restaurant.
I’m pretty impressed because anything we ordered is so good! I haven’t tasted Kadios before but Solina’s version makes me still remember the distinct taste of sourness from kadios and batwan. The pork is soft and tenderly boiled with peas, eggplant, and jackfruit.
Other dishes like their Binagoongan Pork, Chicken Inasal, Bangus sisig, and Scallops doesn’t disappoint as well.
You can also conveniently asked the staff to deliver your ordered meals to your room in case you just wanted to hibernate in your room the whole day :p There’s also a free breakfast buffet on our booking. And by high standard, their breakfast is excellent as well.
Beside Angga Restaurant is the resort’s souvenir shop.
Maximize your stay and enjoy the amenities provided by the resort. Check out their gym and game room.
If you have your kids with you, they can also enjoy the mini playground and run around their vast garden. Or you can also borrow their bikes or ride a golf cart and explore the whole resort!
And of course, take a dip into their infinity pools. Make sure to get that IG-worthy post!
We also reached their tower wherein there’s a binocular on top and you can actually see the whole resort and beach.
And since it’s a beach resort, get some time to take a walk on the beachside. Though it’s not that sandy as we know, rather there are a lot of pebbles on the shore.
For other services such as massage and kayaking will require you additional fees.
I vouch that they’ll treat you VIP during your stay. What are you waiting for? Booked that grand-cation your aiming for this year! You may visit their website for the updated prices or you can also booked at Agoda.
