San Juan, La Union is most likely booked in times of long weekends or holidays. We did. And there are only two more rooms left in this hotel that we’ve found via Travelbook.ph. So we booked ahead here at Marand Resort and Spa.
Speaking of holidays and long weekends, buses are also fully booked en route to La Union. Dominion and Viron transit doesn’t accept reservations. And we’re avoiding being chance passengers, especially on long weekends because for sure there are a lot who will go home during these dates.
Alternative ways to get to La Union is to ride bound to Ilocos and dropoff along MacArthur highway of La Union.
Bus transits to La Union:
  • Partas – Cubao QC and Sampaloc Manila
  • Viron transit – Cubao QC and Sampaloc Manila (no reservations)
  • Dominion – Cubao QC (no reservations)

Bus transits to Ilocos Norte/ Sur:
  • Partas – Cubao QC and Sampaloc Manila
  • Viron transit – Cubao QC and Sampaloc Manila (no reservations)
  • Dominion – Cubao QC (no reservations)
  • Fariñas – Sampaloc Manila
  • Maria de leon – Sampaloc Manila
  • Florida – Sampaloc Manila
You can do walk-ins to reserve or you can also book online via Biyaheroes!

TIP: One month before your trip you can already do reservations.

We opt to go for Fariñas bound to La Union. The regular fare per person is P420. Back to Manila, we go for Partas. Per person is P440. Partas in San Fernando, La Union doesn’t accept reservations but they have an hourly departure.
Fariñas bus has a compact bathroom inside and they even gave us free ‘Locally’ in canned drinks on our way 😉 I think it was given by GMA on express highway druing that time.

Once you get to Bauang, you can tell kuya to drop you off Marand Resort since it’s just along MacArthur highway. Or in case the didn’t know the place, you can actually see a BIG printed name of Marand on your way (left side).
