As part of everyone’s vacation, it’s a must to eat or should we say lamon on our local dialect. And you can make sure La Union have a lot to offer.
If you happen to be in Bauang, you may want to try Rose Bowl Steakhouse and restaurant. Rose bowl offers the common Chinese cuisine. You know, there’s the pancit, roast duck, cooked in taosi, wanton etc. You can find Rose Bowl along MacArthur highway. You can either grab a tricycle or jeep on your way.

The resto setup is more unto family dinner or gatherings. Since all of the tables have 6 chairs and more. And check out those paintings in their entrance hallway.

We try out their sweet and sour pork rice topping for P139. Which is not really a topping because they served it separately with the rice. And shrimps with tofu in oyster sauce for P349, which I recommend. The sauce is so good.

And of course my staple on every Chinese cuisine, Shanghai rolls for P179. Small rolls packed with meat. I also tried their calamansi juice, which I forgot to take a photo. I didn’t expect it to be that super sour. Good thing they have sugar on the side. Dinner complete!

Next stop San Fernando. We tried out the popular Halo Halo de Iloko. It’s not designated along the highway so we have to grab a tricycle. Located in Zandueta Street is the colorful resto packed with a lot of customers as early as 10 am. Their interior is full of nostalgic memories used by my lola and mom during the days.

We happen to have our breakfast back at the resort so we only tried one rice meal which is Sisig for P115. It’s not that crunchy as other sisig but chewy if I should describe it.

Now for the main star – halo halo! We had the Regular halo halo for P85 good for 1 person. And of course the instagrammable Buko halo halo for P175 good for 2! As I’ve watched the episode of Kara David in Pinas Sarap, I’m really curious because of the ingredients used are within each municipality of La Uñion! Wow! So even if I’m full, this shouldn’t be skipped. I’m telling you, it’s a must and indeed it’s the best halo halo I’ve tasted. I can still remember the taste up to now.

Partnered with this! This cheese sticks for P95 is really one of a kind. I mean every cheese sticks I’ve had ordered and cooked is all the same. But THIS is different. It is so good that you’ll order another one and dream of it. Believe me (shaking you)! And all the price here is all budget friendly so two thumbs up for that.

Let’s go now to San Juan. If you’re tired of all the jumping and surfing the waves of Urbiztondo, why not try Tagpuan. Tagpuan menu is ideal for those who want to sober up after all that drinking.

The place is very compact with limited seats only. And remember their CLAYGO tagline – clean as you go.

As for the food which is FYI comes at a cheap price. We have their tapa and combo 1 which is tofu, pork, egg and rice for P60. Pinoy breakfast silogs for lunch because WHY NOT. I just find the beef very chewy in my opinion and the pork is not too tasty.

And to cap up our tiring yet grand day we have to sip El Union’s coffee. We had their iced mocha for P140. Very strong in taste, I had to request for additional syrup. And to balance the taste, we also had their iced chocolate for P120. You can also read some books and magazines displayed. The vibe in this place is perfect to just relax.

Some places to try as well along Urbiztondo, San Juan are Beach Bum food park and Flotsam and Jetsam.

Just like any food park, Beach Bum has a lot of food stalls to choose from. There are a lot of chairs and tables to dine in to as well.

While Flotsam and Jetsam is an artist hostel. They are open even for those who are not booked in the hostel. The bohemian style of their interior and exterior design is really inviting. You can feel the freewill and relaxed vibe of the customers.
